3 Day Rwanda Gorilla Trek

Day 1ARRIVAL IN KIGALI, DRIVE TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK On arrival at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda and after finalizing the formalities, you will drive to Kigali town, visit the genocide museum and time allowing, you will have a short city Tour of the capital city, after which you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park. The journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible.

Day 2 – GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Today you will get up early and drive to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri, you will go to ORTPN offices for briefing after that set off in the forest for Gorilla trekking. A thrilling trek through the refined foothills of the Virungas led by an experienced ranger Guide provides inspiring views in all directions. The rainforest is alive with calls of colorful birds and chattering of the rare golden monkey, and besieged with fresh spoor of the mountains’ elusive populations of buffalo and elephant. Gorilla trekking is quite strenuous but a worthwhile on encounter of these gentle giants. Spend time watching gorillas, watch the adults feeding their young ones, brushing and resting as the youngsters play from vines in a pleasurably playful display.

Day 3 GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING AND DEPART
Today you will go to track the golden monkeys in the bamboo forest. Trekking to see the golden monkeys is another highlight of Volcanoes National Park. The Golden Monkey (Cercopithecus Mitis Kandti) is a local subspecies of the widespread Sykes Monkey, also known as the “Blue Monkey” and is endemic to the high altitude forests of the Volcanoes National Park area. The Golden monkeys are rare species listed as endangered. The monkeys are playful and inquisitive and often spend their time leaping from bamboo branches or frolicking on the forest floor towards the base of the volcanoes and have overcome their initial shyness to accept their daily visit by researchers and tourists. Later drive to Kigali, have dinner at a nice restaurant then later transfer to the Airport.
